The Tavern Woodworker's Guild was established in 2008 under the sponsorship of the RH/HT Foundation Inc.
The Guild is organized primarily for educational purposes, including:
- to encourage and facilitate the establishment of training programs for aspiring woodworkers
- to disseminate information about sources of material and equipment
- to expose the art of woodworking to the public
- to make items typical of the tavern era for sale to the public
- to provide information about woodworking for the general public
Any person, firm, school, museum engaged in/or interested in woodworking may become a member.
Our period woodworking shop is located downstairs in the Carriage House and is open for display during Farmers Markets. We also have an active working modern shop upstairs for members. We meet off-site on Wednesdays.
The Guild makes products to sell in the shop, Tavern gift shop and at Farmers Markets. Recently, the Guild taught a well-attended Heritage Arts class in making an heirloom-quality wooden Kaleidoscope.
