The Tavern Foundation (RHHT) would like to welcome you to our website, a visit to part of the historic town square in Heathsville. We are extremely proud of our accomplishments over the years; restoration of a 1795 Court House Tavern, operating Blacksmith Shop, Carriage House, Community Building and Pavilion – all supporting our guilds, restaurant, gift shop and community events and fund raisers.

Our mission is to maintain and operate RHHT to research, interpret and teach its history; and to continue its heritage as a living part of the community.

Upcoming Events

Saturday, May 15 -- Heathsville Farmers Market!

There are always a lot of reasons to visit Heathsville, but Saturday, May 15th is one of the best days to “Make It a Heathsville Saturday.” The entire community is coming together to offer a variety of fun shopping and things to do in conjunction with the Heathsville Farmers Market.

Shop all your favorite vendors, including GARNERS PRODUCE! Also Whitley's gourmet peanuts, local meat from Summer Duck Farm and Village Farms, Mooch's BBQ Sauce, homemade baked goods, plants and seedlings, and locally-made handcrafts. We'll also have a number of new vendors.

Enjoy the Flower Show, sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay Garden Club, inside the "Tavern Meeting Building." Free and open to the public, this National Garden Club Standard Flower Show is entitled "A Year Like No Other." The exhibit will contain floral arrangements, horticulture and botanical arts displays created by club members.

While you're here, you'll also want to visit the Tavern's Forge, where members of the Tavern Blacksmith Guild will be at work. The Tavern's Woodworking Guild can be found in its colonial era workshop, located inside the Carriage House. The Tavern's collection of antique carriages is also on view there. The Quilt Guild can be found in their Studio, located on the first floor of the Tavern. The Spinners & Weavers Guild has their Studio on the second floor of the Tavern.

Also inside the Tavern is our Tavern Cafe´ and "Heritage Arts Center" Gift Shoppe. The shop has a huge variety of locally-made artisan wares, plus a number of "artisans-in-residence", ready to chat and show you what they do. Our Tavern Café offers a relaxing sit-down lunch. Don't miss the café's glazed donuts, hot out of the fryer! Or you can grab a bite at our food concession stand, located outside the "Tavern Meeting Building"; breakfast sandwiches available, too.

But elsewhere in the Heathsville community there are other big doings. You'll find interesting shops, attractions, eats and historical sites. Visit Ye Olde Book Shoppe, a used book store run by volunteers of the Northumberland Public Library. Browse classy church thrift shops run by St. Stephen's Episcopal and Light of Christ Anglican. Check out Kathy's Korner for unique treasures for the home. Heathsville United Methodist Church is selling homemade ice cream. Pick up your Historic Heathsville Walking Map, and wander past homes and buildings from every century since the 1700's.

"Make It a Heathsville Saturday" will take place on the third Saturday of the month, April thru October. Each Farmers Market will have a different theme.
